*edit Thank you so much for the DD! I cannot express with words how excited and happy I am. Thank you! I'll be back later today, but I'm going to take the sat's right now. This really helped with the apprehension this morning.<3
Huge thanks to for featuring this work. Thanks!!! ---------------
Many thanks to the model, Dakota. This shoot was really fun and I got some great photos out of it. Please do not use our work! This is a copyrighted image. I took this with my OM-10 and ISO 100 Ilford black and white film.
My Word... I can study and stare at this shot for ages and beyond... seriously it's that captivating.
The concept of dance is captured just with the right note, time and clarity. The pose, that moment where the ornaments of her top are sharply "floating" in stasis, the introspective yet immersive expression... this really expresses the power and joy of dance in spades. Dakota herself really helps bring out such exuberance via elegant movment and healthy curves (very evident in the weighted body outline and smooth yet firm upper arm contours), just everything is full of life here. Also choice to go with monochrome for this shot is perfect in bringing out the best of light + shadow dualplay, colour would have distracted from the overall spirit and expression of forms here. This is such an excellent piece full of story and vitality. Thank You So Much for this shot!
I would be so excited and honored as well! You definitely deserved the daily deviation, and you might just be one really famous photographer someday. I can see that happening. (I kinda hope I'll have a DD one day, but am not betting on it - still so happy I got a DLD though! That's almost the same thing. ) You're very welcome.
A lovely capture! I think what drew my attention to this was first of all, the range of tones and the contrast of dark and light, and secondly, the overall shape of the figure I love how her arms are placed in a non-contrived way, and how the things on her top are in motion. Her arm position really helps with the movement in this photo, and help with the direction of the viewers gaze and framing of the face in the centre! Also, I like how the decorations on her top, her hand, and the ends of her hair are blurry while her face and neck remain quite sharp. The two light sources work really well too, so yeah, I really like this shot Nicely framed.
I like the softness and the blurred spots/edges of this. I also like how the blurs on her hair and hand indicates that she was dancing or something. (kinda like bringing movement to a photo - without it being a gif and having to use a bit of imagination) Great photo!
